Editorial policy

What we publish, how we check it, and what we will not do.

Educational purpose

GoldScope publishes general education about gold markets. Every article is written to explain a concept, a mechanism or a risk. We do not publish trade signals, price targets, forecasts presented as certainty, or recommendations to buy or sell any instrument, and nothing we publish takes account of any reader’s personal circumstances.

Research approach

An article begins as an explanation and becomes publishable only once its factual claims have been checked. Each article moves through four states:

  1. Draft — the explanation is being written.
  2. Research — the claims that need a source are listed and are being checked.
  3. Review — sources are compiled and the article is read again against them.
  4. Published — the article is public and its sources are listed on the page.

An article cannot be published while any claim on its research list is unresolved, and a published article must list at least one source. This is enforced by the publishing system itself, not left to memory.

Source expectations

We prefer primary and authoritative sources, roughly in this order:

  • Industry bodies with published methodology, such as the World Gold Council.
  • Central banks and government statistical agencies.
  • Exchanges and their contract specifications.
  • Official platform documentation, such as MetaTrader 5’s own help material.
  • Regulators and their published guidance.
  • Established financial publications, for context rather than for primary facts.

Each source is recorded with its title, publisher, address, type and the date it was retrieved. Anonymous blogs, forums, social media posts and marketing pages are not treated as authoritative, and a statistic we cannot trace to its origin is not used.

What we do not claim

We do not describe any strategy as winning or guaranteed, and we do not publish performance results, account balances or testimonials. We have not carried out independent testing of brokers, platforms or trading methods, and we will not say that we have. Where an article uses a numerical example, it is labelled as hypothetical and exists only to show the arithmetic.

Commercial relationship

GoldScope is produced as part of a marketing project for TheNextLevel, a trading education and analytics company. We say so plainly because readers are entitled to know who is behind what they read.

That relationship shapes one thing on this site: a small number of articles include a clearly labelled “Further learning” section that points to TheNextLevel. Those sections are marked as promotional, their links carry rel="sponsored", and they appear only where the resource is genuinely relevant to the article — not on every page.

It does not change how articles are researched or what they say. Articles do not recommendTheNextLevel’s products in their body text, do not repeat its performance figures, and are written to be useful to a reader who never clicks the link. GoldScope has not independently tested TheNextLevel’s tools or services.

Editorial decisions — what we cover, what we conclude and what we leave out — are made by the editorial desk and follow the research and sourcing rules above whether or not an article carries a promotional section.

Dates and updates

Published articles show their publication date. An updated date appears only when the substance of an article has changed, not when it has merely been re-saved.

Corrections

If you believe something we have published is wrong, please tell us through the contact page, pointing to the specific claim and, if you can, a source. We check reported errors against primary sources, correct the article when we are wrong, and note significant corrections on the article itself.

Financial-risk context

Trading gold, particularly with leverage, can lead to losses, including losses larger than a reader expects. Understanding a market does not remove that risk. Please read the risk disclosure.
